Dawn Herring's Piano Service has been established since 1979. The owner, Dawn Herring, is a certified Steinway factory-trained technician and a registered piano technician. Ms. Herring has over 30 years of service experience in the areas of tuning, repairing, rebuilding, and overall maintenance of acoustic pianos.

  • Certification obtained at Perkins School of Tuning and Technology in 1979
  • Charter member of the Steinway Technical Assistance Team since 2006
  • Graduated from the C.F. Theodore Steinway Technical Academy
  • Member of Piano Technicians Guild as a registered technician

  • Currently involved in working with the Steinway Technical Assistance Team in repairing, regulating, tuning, and voicing instruments at colleges and music schools
  • Technician at Reifsnyder's Piano Store, rebuilding and tuning for 14 years (from 1979-1993)

Qualifications

  • Provide quality and professional service
  • Teach technical classes at PTG conferences
  • Tutor local technicians for PTG (Piano Technician Guild) tests in order to become registered technicians

  • Provide a maintenance program to keep pianos at optimal condition (This includes cleaning, thorough examinations annually, and changing humidifier pads.)
  • Provide touchweight design metrology, which is custom designing piano actions for personal preference including optimal even touch and tone throughout the keyboard (Specialty work is performed on higher end pianos.)
  • Troubleshoot problems on all varieties of pianos
  • Tune, repair, rebuild, give estimates and install Piano Life Saver Systems

  • Minimizes the expansion and contraction of action parts which improves touch and keyboard control;
